Laney Rouse joined the Kansas City Current in December 2025 as a free agent, inking her first professional contract after a standout collegiate career at Virginia from 2020-25 where she started 86 of her 97 matches and logged over 6,600 minutes with two goals and seven assists. She had a goal and three assists during her final season in 2025. An anchor of Virginia’s back line, she contributed to 55 shutouts during her college career and helped her team win the ACC regular season title in 2021 with deep NCAA Tournament runs in five of her six seasons. In 2025, Rouse was named to the All-ACC Second Team and All-Region Second Team while earning United Soccer Coaches All-America Fourth Team honors.
Internationally, Rouse has been part of the United States Youth National Team at the U-14, U-16, U-19 and U-20 levels. She helped the Stars and Stripes win the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship, recording an assist vs. the Dominican Republic as the U.S. won Group E. Rouse, along with now-KC Current teammates Michelle Cooper and Ally Sentnor, participated in the 2022 FIFA U-20 World Cup, and Rouse assisted Cooper’s goal in the opening match vs. Ghana. Rouse was also part of the USA’s roster which won the 2022 Sud Ladies Cup.
