Izzy Rodriguez joined the Kansas City Current in January 2022 after being selected No. 43 overall in the 2022 NWSL Draft. She then re-signed to a two-year deal before signing a three-year contract extension through the 2028 season on July 1, 2025. She owns the club record for most games played in a regular season with 26 in 2025. Rodriguez also co-owns the franchise record for career regular season assists (11) and single-season regular season assists (6), both which were set in 2025. In 2025, she was named to the NWSL Best XI First Team and was a finalist for NWSL Defender of the Year.

Rodriguez’s rookie campaign in 2022 saw her record one assist in 16 regular season appearances with one start. She then totaled three goals and a pair of assists in 22 matches with 11 starts the following year. The 2024 season saw her start all but three of her 21 regular season games, finishing with one goal and two assists. She had a breakout 2025 season, becoming the first player in club history to start every regular season game, capping off the season with a goal and an assist. Rodriguez was fundamental in the Current winning the 2025 NWSL Shield and setting numerous regular season NWSL records including points (65), wins (21), consecutive wins (9), consecutive shutout minutes (869), shutouts (16) and consecutive shutouts (9), among others.

Internationally, Rodriguez earned her first USWNT call-up in June 2025. She made her senior team debut on June 29, 2025, finding the back of the net in the 42nd minute to become the 23rd player in the USWNT’s 40-year history to score in their first cap. She was part of the starting lineup in that match and logged a full 90 minutes. Prior to her USWNT berth, Rodriguez earned a combined 18 caps at the U-17, U-19 and U-20 levels. She played in all three matches at the 2016 Concacaf U-17 Championship, helping the United States win the title and a World Cup berth. She then played in two matches at the 2016 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Two years later, she guided the U.S. to a runner-up finish at the 2018 U-20 Concacaf Championship and saw action in two group stage matches at the 2018 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Rodriguez experienced a remarkable collegiate career at Ohio State University from 2017-21, starting all but one of her 87 appearances and logging 7,683 minutes with eight goals and 12 assists. She was the 2020 Big Ten Defender of the Year and received the Big Ten Medal of Honor in 2022, becoming just the second women's soccer player at Ohio State to earn the award. Rodriguez was also a Third Team All-American, two-time All-Region performer and four-time All-Big Ten selection.
