Elizabeth Ball has been a cornerstone of the Kansas City Current since joining the team in January 2021 as part of its first-ever roster after being acquired from the Utah Royals. She inked a three-year extension in 2021 before signing another extension in 2025 through the 2026 season with a one-year mutual option for 2027. A steadfast defender, Ball previously spent time with the Portland Thorns (2018–19) and the Utah Royals (2020).
With over 100 appearances for Kansas City across all competitions, she ranks among the top in all-time matches played for the franchise. Notable moments include her first NWSL goal against the Houston Dash on October 13, 2021; a game-winning header versus the Utah Royals on May 25, 2024; and her first multi-assist game on June 23, 2024, against the Portland Thorns. She scored in a win at Racing Louisville on Aug. 1, 2025, in what was her 100th career regular season appearance. Ball was a key factor in the Current winning the 2025 NWSL Shield and setting numerous regular season NWSL records including points (65), wins (21), consecutive wins (9), consecutive shutout minutes (869), shutouts (16) and consecutive shutouts (9).
Before her professional career, Ball was a standout at Penn State University from 2014–2017. She led the Nittany Lions to their first-ever national championship in 2015 without conceding a goal in the six-game tournament. Ball started all 95 matches in her collegiate career and logged 7,881 minutes, garnering All-Big Ten First Team and All-Region Second Team honors.
