Débora Cristiane de Oliveira, commonly known as Debinha, joined the Kansas City Current in January 2023 as a free agent after six seasons with the North Carolina Courage. In her debut season with Kansas City in 2023, she set a club record by scoring nine goals in the regular season. She then added three more goals in the Challenge Cup, tying the club's single season record at the time for goals across all competitions with 12. Her 2023 accolades include three monthly NWSL Best XI awards, the 2023 NWSL Best XI and 2023 NWSL MVP finalist. She followed that up with seven goals and five assists across all competitions in 2024, collecting two more Best XI monthly honors.
Debinha began her professional career in 2011 with Brazilian club Centro Olímpico before signing with Avaldsnes IL in Toppserien, the Norwegian first division, where she scored 23 goals in 30 appearances. Prior to the 2016 season, she signed to play with Dalian Quanjian F.C. in China.
Coming to the NWSL in 2017, Debinha signed with the North Carolina Courage and helped her team to three straight NWSL Shields (2017-19), three straight NWSL Championship match appearances (2017-19) and two championship wins (2018, 2019). She was named the 2019 NWSL Championship MVP after scoring the opening goal, which was eventually the game-winner. In addition to her playoff prowess, Debinha shined in the NWSL Challenge Cup. She owns the record for most goals all-time with nine, helped North Carolina to a tournament win in 2021 and was twice named the Challenge Cup MVP (2021, 2022). In total, Debinha had 126 appearances, 51 goals and 20 assists for the Courage across all competitions.
Regarded as one of the best players in the world, Debinha has been a mainstay on the Brazilian National Team. She has earned 146 caps and has scored 61 international goals, the latter which ranks third all-time in Brazilian National Team history. After representing Brazil at the 2010 FIFA U-20 World Cup, Debinha made her senior team debut on Oct. 18, 2011, two days shy of her 20th birthday. She represented her country at the Olympic Games in 2016 and 2020 and was an alternate in 2012, also making the roster for the 2019 FIFA World Cup. She led Brazil to Copa América titles in 2018 and 2022.
