Clare Gagne joined the Kansas City Current in January 2025 as a free agent on a one-year contract before signing a one-year deal the following January to keep her in Kansas City through the 2026 season. Despite not seeing any action during her rookie season in 2025, she provided depth for the Current’s goalkeeping contingent which set league records for clean sheets (16), consecutive shutout minutes (869) and consecutive shutouts (9) during the regular season en route to the club clinching the NWSL Shield. A head injury placed her on the SEI list in early September.

Prior to joining the professional ranks, Gagne had a standout five-year college career. She played at Brown University from 2020-23 where she led her team to three straight Ivy League titles. Gagne used her fifth year of eligibility at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and guided the Tar Heels to the 2024 national championship. She started all 27 games that season and recorded 13 shutouts, conceding only one goal throughout the NCAA Tournament with back-to-back shutouts in the College Cup. Gagne was named the 2024 NCAA College Cup Most Outstanding Defensive Player and found herself on the 2024 NCAA College Cup All-Tournament Team.
