Claire Hutton joined the Kansas City Current in December 2023 as a 17-year-old through the NWSL's Under-18 Entry Mechanism, opting to turn professional over a collegiate career at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She inked a three-year deal to keep her with the club through the 2026 season.

Hutton made her professional debut in March 2024 and quickly became a fixture in the lineup. Hutton started 19 of 22 regular season matches for the Current in her stellar rookie season and was named a finalist for both 2024 NWSL Rookie of the Year and 2024 U.S. Soccer Young Player of the Year. She carried that momentum into 2025, starting 22 of her 25 regular season contests and dishing out a pair of assists while leading the club with 39 interceptions, 43 tackles won, 139 duels won and 154 possession wins. Hutton was fundamental in the Current winning the 2025 NWSL Shield and setting numerous NWSL regular season records including points (65), wins (21), consecutive wins (9), consecutive shutout minutes (869), shutouts (16) and consecutive shutouts (9), among others. She was named to the NWSL Best XI First Team, a finalist for NWSL Midfielder of the Year in 2025, won the 2025 Lauren Holiday Fan Impact Challenge and was nominated for the 2025 The Best FIFA Women’s 11.

Internationally, Hutton received her first USWNT call-up in February 2025 for the SheBelieves Cup after featuring in the Futures Camp earlier that year. Her debut and first start was in the SheBelieves Cup vs. Australia. She registered her first career assist vs. Ireland on June 29 and notched her first goal against Canada three days later.

Hutton also boasts a decorated youth national team resume. She made her U.S. Soccer debut with the U-17 National Team that won the 2022 Concacaf Championship in the Dominican Republic. She ranked third on the team with six goals in the tournament. She was named captain of the U.S. U-19 National Team that earned bronze at the 2023 PanAm Games. Hutton also played a pivotal role for the U.S. U-20 squad at the 2024 FIFA U-20 World Cup. She started five games as one of the youngest players on the roster and helped the team secure a bronze medal.
