Alana Cook joined the Kansas City Current in July 2024 via a midseason trade with Seattle Reign FC. A two-time NWSL Best XI selection in 2021 and 2022 – and a finalist for Defender of the Year in both of those seasons – Cook brings an elite defensive pedigree to Kansas City. After signing with the Current, she started the last 10 regular season matches in addition to both NWSL Playoff games in 2024, guiding the club to six clean sheets across those 12 contests.

Cook began her professional career at Paris Saint-Germain (2019–2021) where she won the 2020–21 Division 1 Féminine title, the club’s first.  She made 21 league appearances and 17 starts for PSG in addition to nine UEFA Women’s Champions League appearances. Cook was then transferred to Seattle Reign (2021-24) and was instrumental in the club's 2022 NWSL Shield win. A consistent starter in Seattle, she had 84 appearances for the Reign across all competitions and logged 5,838 regular season minutes.

Internationally, Cook debuted for the U.S. Women’s National Team in 2019 and has since earned over 30 caps, including appearances in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2022 CONCACAF W Championship. She scored her first international goal on April 11 – her birthday – in a 1–0 win over Ireland in 2023. During her youth career, she captained the Under-17 National Team for several friendlies in 2013 and was part of various U-20 training camps in 2016.

Collegiately, Cook starred at Stanford University (2015–2018) where she helped the Cardinal claim four straight Pac-12 titles and the 2017 NCAA national championship. She captained the team her last two seasons and was honored as the Pac-12 Defender of the Year in 2018. Cook was also a First Team All-American, a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist and a four-time All-Pac-12 Team selection.
