Two Kansas City Current players called up for international duty

The Kansas City Current will be represented by two players in the upcoming FIFA International Window, September 18-26. Midfielder Debinha (Brazil) and defender Stine Ballisager Pedersen (Denmark) have been called up to play with their national teams in upcoming matches. Both players were integral to their nation’s run through the recent 2023 FIFA World Cup.

Brazilian midfielder Debinha has been a mainstay on the Brazilian National Team since 2011. She has 137 appearances and 59 goals for her home country, including three appearances and a goal in the 2023 FIFA World Cup. This will be the first camp for Brazil under new head coach Arthur Elias.

One of Kansas City’s newest players, Ballisager is already a veteran on the world stage. She featured in three of Denmark’s World Cup matches this summer and has 47 appearances overall for her home country. Ballisager looks to lead the way for Denmark this month as the team begins play in the 2023 UEFA Women’s Nations League. Denmark will host Germany September 22 at 11 a.m. CT before traveling to play Wales September 26 at 1:15 p.m. CT.

Debinha and Ballisager will both be available for the Current as the team travels to play the San Diego Wave Saturday, September 16 at 9 p.m. CT. The Current match will air live in the Kansas City area on KMCI, 38 The Spot with Lisa Carlin and Dave Borchardt on the call.
