Midfielder Debinha Signs Contract Extension With Kansas City Current

KANSAS CITY (July 13, 2026) – Midfielder Debinha, one of the most decorated players in NWSL and Brazilian Women’s National Team history, has signed a contract extension with the Kansas City Current, the club announced on Monday. The new contract will keep Debinha in the Heartland through the 2027 season with a mutual option for 2028.

“Debinha is one of the best players in the world, and we are excited that she will continue her illustrious career in Kansas City,” said general manager Ryan Dell. “Above all, Debinha is a selfless teammate. She makes those around her better, and her passion and love for the game is contagious.”

One of the most prolific goalscorers in NWSL history, Debinha has amassed 56 goals and 26 assists in 170 appearances with 146 starts across 12,781 minutes in her regular season career, including 21 goals and nine assists for the Current. She has 208 appearances, 183 starts, 80 goals and 29 assists in 15,980 minutes across all competitions.

With 56 goals and 26 assists on her resume, no other player has recorded more goal contributions in regular season play than Debinha since her league debut in 2017. Debinha became the sixth player in NWSL regular season history to hit the 40 goal, 20 assist milestone, and the fifth player to join the 50 goal, 25 assist club. She is the first Brazilian player to reach 150 regular season appearances and 10,000 regular season minutes. She has scored eight or more regular season goals in five of her eight completed seasons. On July 3, she became the third player in NWSL history to reach 100 regular season careers wins.

“I am very happy to stay in Kansas City,” said Debinha. “This city has become like home, and the fan and community support has been incredible. I am excited to see what our team can continue to accomplish together.”

Debinha finished the 2025 regular season with eight goals and one assist en route to helping the KC Current win its first NWSL Shield in club history. She is one of only four players in NWSL history to have been on four Shield-winning teams, and her eight total NWSL trophies is second all-time.
