Midfielder Debinha Added to Brazil’s Roster for October FIFA Window

The Brazilian National Team has extended an invitation to midfielder Debinha for the upcoming FIFA international window, the Brazilian Football Confederation announced on Friday. Debinha will replace an injured player. Brazil announced its initial 23-player roster on Oct. 9.

Debinha will join two Kansas City teammates in goalkeeper Lorena and forward Bia Zaneratto, both who were called up by Brazil last week. Back in the spring, Debinha received her first call-up since May 2024 but did not attend due to injury.

The three Brazilian standouts will travel to Manchester, England, to face the Lionesses on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Etihad Stadium with kickoff set for 11:30 a.m. CT. Brazil will then make its way to Parma, Italy, to take on the Italian National Team for a friendly on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 11:15 a.m. CT at Ennio Tardini Stadium.

Regarded as one of the best players in the world, Debinha has earned 146 caps and has scored 61 international goals, the latter which ranks third all-time in Brazilian National Team history. After representing Brazil at the 2010 FIFA Under-20 World Cup, her senior team berth came two days shy of her 20th birthday in 2011. She played for Brazil at the Olympic Games in 2016 and 2020 and was an alternate in 2012, also making the roster for the 2019 FIFA World Cup. She led Brazil to Copa América titles in 2018 and 2022.

Debinha, who has amassed seven goals and one assist, has been instrumental in Kansas City’s success this year. She made her 150th regular season appearance on Aug. 1, becoming the first Brazilian in the NWSL to reach that milestone. She scored the game-winning goal as the Current won their first NWSL Shield in franchise history on Sept. 20. That was her 20th career regular season game-winner, which ranks third all-time in NWSL history. Her 54 career regular season goals are tied for sixth all-time in league history.

The Kansas City Current returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 18, against the Houston Dash for its final regular season road match. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas. The game will broadcast nationally on ION with a local simulcast on KMCI, 38 the Spot. Fans in Kansas City can listen to the action on 90.9 The Bridge, and the KC Current App will have an audio stream in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
