Midfielder Croix Bethune Tabbed to NWSL July Best XI of the Month, pres. by Amazon Prime

KANSAS CITY (Aug. 7, 2026) — Kansas City Current midfielder Croix Bethune has been named to July’s NWSL Best XI of the Month, presented by Amazon Prime, the league announced on Friday. She totaled one goal and four assists last month.

Bethune earned the recognition for the sixth time in her career. She was also selected to the NWSL Best XI of the Month in May, marking back-to-back monthly honors.

She began the month with two assists during a 3-0 win at Denver Summit FC on July 3, her third career multi-assist performance and first as a member of the KC Current. Bethune then recorded a goal and an assist in a 2-2 draw with San Diego Wave FC on July 17. That was the third time in her career – and second time this season – she had a goal and an assist in the same regular season match.

The Alpharetta, Ga. native capped off the month with another assist in a 5-1 rout of Racing Louisville FC on July 29. It was her seventh regular season assist of the year, giving her sole possession of the Current’s single season assist record.

The midfielder also leads the club in shots (38), shots on target (22), chances created (26) and tackles won (25). She is one of three Current players who has appeared in every regular season game this year and ranks second on the team with 1,392 minutes.

The NWSL Best XI of the Month is selected by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league consistently, and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent. Awards for the month of July are based on performances during regular season matches.
