Midfielder Croix Bethune Named to Third Straight NWSL Best XI of the Month, pres. by Amazon Prime

KANSAS CITY (Sept. 4, 2026) — Kansas City Current midfielder Croix Bethune has been named to August’s NWSL Best XI of the Month, presented by Amazon Prime, the league announced on Friday. She totaled one goal and two assists last month.

Bethune earned the recognition for the seventh time in her career. She was also selected to the NWSL Best XI of the Month in May and July, marking three consecutive monthly honors.

With her assist on Aug. 8 against the Houston Dash, Bethune became the 20th player – and the second youngest player – in NWSL history to reach 20 career regular season assists. She was the second-fastest player to hit that milestone, doing so in just 56 regular season appearances.

She recorded another assist the following week at Gotham FC when she set up forward Amelia White’s goal 22 seconds into the match, which tied the league record for the quickest goal in regular season history. Bethune found the back of the net vs. the North Carolina Courage on Aug. 29, scoring her fourth goal of the regular season to complement her club-record nine assists.

The midfielder also leads the team in shots (45), shots on target (23), chances created (35) and tackles won (33). She is one of three Current players who has appeared in every regular season game this year and ranks second on the roster with 1,752 minutes.

The NWSL Best XI of the Month is selected by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league consistently, and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent. Awards for the month of August are based on performances during regular season matches.
