KANSAS CITY (July 17, 2026) – Kansas City welcomes four of the nation's top Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) clubs to Riverside Stadium this weekend as the club hosts the 2026 WPSL Championship Weekend.
The four remaining teams in the WPSL postseason – KC Current II, California Storm, New York Athletic Club and Georgia Impact – will compete in a pair of semifinal matches on Saturday before Sunday's championship match crowns the 2026 WPSL champion.
KC Current II enters championship weekend in dominant form after capturing the Heartland Division, Midwest Conference Championship and Central Regional Championship to earn its place among the league's final four.
Compiling a 13-1-2 record while outscoring opponents 45-7 throughout the season, Current II’s balanced attack and disciplined defending have fueled its championship run. Individually, forward Avery Clark and defenders Skylar Blaise, Itala Gemelli and Naila Schoefberger were each named to the 2026 WPSL All-Central Region Team. Clark leads Current II with a team-high 14 goals this season, while Blaise, Gemelli and Schoefberger have anchored a back line that has recorded seven shutouts and allowed just seven goals all year.
The semifinal slate begins Saturday morning when New York Athletic Club faces Georgia Impact at 9 a.m. CT at Riverside Stadium. KC Current II will then take the field in front of its home supporters against California Storm at approx. 11:30 a.m. CT with a berth in the WPSL Championship on the line.
The winners of each semifinal will return to Riverside Stadium on Sunday, July 19, at 7 p.m. CT to play in the 2026 WPSL Championship.
