Kansas City Current Receives 2023 Fourth Round Pick in Exchange for Midfielder Gaby Vincent

KANSAS CITY (Dec. 20, 2021) – The Kansas City Current announced a trade today, sending midfielder Gaby Vincent to the Washington Spirit in exchange for the Spirit’s natural fourth round pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft and $25 thousand in allocation money.

Vincent was transferred to Kansas City along with 22 other players prior to the 2021 season. She appeared in 16 games for Kansas City, making 11 starts. The young midfielder was signed by the Utah Royals in 2019 and started seven games that season.

The Kansas City Current preseason kicks off Feb. 1, with the first match being played as part of the 2022 Challenge Cup starting March 19. For tickets and information, visit KansasCityCurrent.com.

KANSAS CITY CURRENT Founded in December 2020, the Kansas City Current is led by the ownership group of Angie Long, Chris Long and Brittany Matthews.  The team competes in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and played its first season in 2021.  The Kansas City Current announced plans for the first stadium purpose-built for an NWSL team with expected completion in 2024.  The team will play in 2022 at Children’s Mercy Park.
