Kansas City Current partners with Dairy Farmers of America

The Kansas City Current announced a partnership with Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) through 2024. DFA is a national farmer-owned cooperative with nearly 11,000 family farm-owners. Headquartered in Kansas City and with more than 19,000 employees worldwide, DFA also manufactures a variety of dairy products including fluid milk, cheese, butter, ice cream and more that connect its family farms to family tables across the United States, including here in Kansas City.

“We are really excited to partner with Dairy Farmers of America in 2024 as we open CPKC Stadium, the first stadium purpose-built for a women’s professional team,” said Current President Raven Jemison. “Our shared values around sustainability and giving back to the community make this a perfect fit. We hope this will amplify the impact that both organizations will have in Kansas City, as well as our respective reach beyond.”

KC Current and DFA are proud to align in their focus on sustainability efforts. As caretakers of their animals and land, sustainability isn’t just an initiative for DFA farmers, but a way of life and a responsibility for future generations. DFA is focused on always finding new, innovative ways to conserve resources, reduce waste and work efficiently. Similarly, KC Current is dedicated to creating a stadium, facilities and an operating philosophy that are environmentally responsible and community focused. The club is committed to prioritizing practices such as reducing plastic usage, composting, and recycling. CPKC Stadium will be a leader in energy and environmental design, reducing negative impacts during construction by maximizing energy efficiency, water conservation, indoor air quality and more.

KC Current will begin working alongside DFA to promote and create awareness around the sustainability of dairy, as well as all the goodness real dairy provides. The Riverfront Collective will be sourcing DFA farmer-owned cheese and butter ingredients in CPKC Stadium. KC Current is proud to bring DFA family farm-owners’ ingredients into CPKC Stadium because they produce dairy with a long-standing commitment to protecting water, soil, and natural habitats to both improve their farm operations and the well-being of their herds. 100% of DFA farms participate in the Cooperative’s Gold Standard Dairy Program - one of the first on-farm evaluation programs of its kind, focused on employing best practices in areas of animal care and wellness, environmental stewardship, employee training, and milk safety and quality.

“We are proud to announce our partnership with KC Current,” said DFA Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations Jenny Hofeditz. “What the KC Current organization and team is bringing to Kansas City is a breakthrough, and the foundation they are building aligns to DFA’s core values. We look forward to our two organizations working together and making a positive impact in Kansas City.”

As an Official Partner of the Kansas City Current, DFA will also receive in-stadium digital signage and commercial spots during KC Current radio and television broadcasts KC Current will also partner with DFA to host milk donations helping families that are experiencing food insecurity in the Kansas City community.  The DFA Cares Foundation has raised more than $1 million and provides dairy products for those in need nationwide.
