Kansas City Current Goalkeeper Lorena Earns Call-Up From Brazil National Team

KANSAS CITY (Sept. 23, 2026) — A mainstay on the Brazilian National Team, Kansas City Current goalkeeper Lorena has been called up by her home country for the upcoming October international window. The national team will play two friendlies in Brazil against Argentina as preparations for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup continue. 

Brazil and Argentina will first square off on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Beira-Rio Stadium in Porto Alegre before meeting again on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Arena de Pernambuco in São Lourenço da Mata. Kickoff is 2:30 p.m. CT and 6:30 p.m. CT, respectively. Brazil currently sits seventh in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings.

This marks Lorena’s fourth call-up of the calendar year as she also received an invitation for the February/March, April and June windows. She was called up by her national team for all six camps held in 2025.

Last summer, Lorena guided Brazil to its fifth consecutive – and ninth overall – Copa América title. Her game-winning save in the penalty kick shootout against Colombia clinched the championship. She also had a penalty kick save in a friendly with Japan in May 2025. After making her senior team debut in 2021, Lorena missed the 2023 FIFA World Cup due to injury but returned to play every minute for Brazil during the 2024 Olympic Games. She kept a clean sheet in three of six matches in the tournament en route to the silver medal.
