Kansas City Current Announces Vlatko Andonovski as Sporting Director, Ryan Dell as General Manager

KANSAS CITY (Nov.14, 2025) –The Kansas City Current announced staffing changes on Friday. Vlatko Andonovski, who has served as head coach and sporting director since October 2023, will transition into a new role as the club’s global sporting director. In addition, Ryan Dell has been promoted to general manager after joining the organization as the head of soccer operations in December 2024.

The Kansas City Current has moved to the next phase of its long-planned staffing model consisting of an expanded technical leadership structure of separate executives occupying the roles of sporting director, head coach and general manager. The augmented technical staffing is what the club believes is necessary to facilitate its vision to be the best women’s soccer club in the world.

The Kansas City Current will immediately begin the search for its next head coach. Andonovski will continue his role as head coach until his successor is named. Dell will assume the general manager role effective immediately.

Co-owners Angie and Chris Long commented, “To continue the club’s upward and global trajectory, we must put in place an organizational structure that reflects the growth of what we’re doing within the KC Current ecosystem and beyond. These changes will allow us to further carry out our mission of staying at the forefront of women’s soccer globally.”

As sporting director, Andonovski will work with the head coach and newly formed head of player development role to implement the long-term vision for the club’s technical and athletic success, as well as be responsible for player recruitment, roster strategy and scouting. In his position as general manager, Dell will take on additional responsibilities of salary cap management, contract negotiation and player transfers. He will continue to oversee all soccer operations and youth development. Both roles will report to ownership.

During his tenure as Kansas City’s head coach, Andonovski helped author one of the greatest single-season turnarounds in NWSL history during his first year at the helm. A year after the club finished second-to-last in league standings with 26 points and an 8-12-2 record, Andonovski guided the Current to a 16-3-7 ledger and 55 points in 2024. Under his leadership, the Current set NWSL records for total goals in a single regular season (57) and most goal scorers in regular season play (18) in addition to winning The Women’s Cup and the inaugural NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup. The team concluded the 2024 regular season fourth on the table and advanced to the NWSL semifinal, its second-ever appearance in the NWSL Playoffs.

More records were set and hardware won in 2025. Andonovski’s second year as head coach saw the Current win their first-ever NWSL Shield as the fastest team to clinch it, doing so with five regular season games remaining. The club set NWSL regular season records for points (65), wins (21), home wins (11), road wins (10), clean sheets (16), consecutive shutouts minutes (869), consecutive shutouts (9), shutouts at home (8), multi-goal wins (15), multi-goal games (18), fewest minutes trailing (109) and fewest goals conceded (13). Kansas City also became the sixth team in league history to finish the regular season undefeated at home.

During his year as the Current’s head of soccer operations, Dell managed all aspects of team logistics and the day-to-day operations of the club, including schedule planning, equipment oversight and administrative support. With his deep network and entrepreneurial spirit, he also created many unique properties for the club including the successful Teal Rising Cup. Additionally, Dell leads the all-important efforts surrounding Kansas City Current II and the Teal Rising Alliance, both fundamental avenues for a clear player development pathway.

Before arriving in Kansas City, Dell was named the first general manager in Racing Louisville FC history. His duties included oversight of performance, player recruitment and compliance while acting as the liaison between the team and the front office. He facilitated the hiring of head coach Bev Yanez and helped Lynn Family Stadium secure a United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) match, the team’s first game in the city in 20 years.

Dell’s appointment as general manger coincides with the club’s decision to part ways with Caitlin Carducci, who had previously served as general manager since November 2024.
