Kansas City Current Announces a Pair of Preseason Matches

KANSAS CITY (Feb. 17, 2022) — The Kansas City Current announced a pair of preseason matches leading up to the 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup and Regular Season.

The 2022 preseason schedule will see the Current playing exhibitions against two NWSL clubs in Florida before returning to the Midwest in early March. 

The preseason schedule opens up with a closed door match against defending NWSL Champion Washington Spirit Saturday, Feb. 26 at IMG Academy at 2 p.m. CT. 

The following week, Kansas City will travel to Exploria Stadium to face the Orlando Pride Wednesday, March 2 at 6 p.m. CT. The match is open to the public. 

Fans can tune in to Kansas City Current social media for updates and stats from each game. 

The 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup opens March 18 with the Current traveling to play Racing Louisville FC at 6:30 p.m. CT. The team opens its home schedule April 2 with a 2 p.m. CT kickoff against Louisville at Children's Mercy Park. Season Ticket Memberships and Flex Plans are available now. Founded in December 2020, the Kansas City Current is led by the ownership group of Angie Long, Chris Long and Brittany Matthews. The team competes in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and played its first season in 2021. The Kansas City Current announced plans for the first stadium purpose-built for an NWSL team with expected completion in 2024.
