Kansas City Current Announces 2022 Theme Nights

The Kansas City Current is excited to announce the team’s theme nights for all 2022 home games. These theme nights are presented by partner organizations Palmer Square Capital Management, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, FunkAway, First Federal Bank of Kansas City and Saint Luke’s Health System.

2022 THEME NIGHTS

May 8 vs. Houston Dash – Regular Season Home Opener/Mother’s Day, presented by Palmer Square Capital Management 

Fans and players will celebrate the mothers in their lives as the Current start the regular season against the Houston Dash. Match giveaways, presented by Palmer Square Capital Management, will include thundersticks as fans enter the stadium and 2022 schedule posters upon exit.  

May 30 vs. Racing Louisville FC – Snacks Day 

The team will celebrate Snacks, the podcast hosted by Lynn Williams and Sam Mewis on the Just Women’s Sports network. Covering life, soccer and everything in between, Snacks with Lynn and Sam gives listeners unprecedented insight into two of soccer’s biggest stars.  

June 4 vs. San Diego Wave FC – Pride Night, presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City 

The Kansas City Current will kick off Pride Month for the first game in June with Blue KC. Fans can look forward to exclusive Pride Month merch and celebrations of this important community.

June 11 vs. NY/NJ Gotham FC – Dog Days of Summer, presented by FunkAway  

Finish off Pet Appreciation Week with the KC Current! The team will celebrate their four-legged friends as the summer heats up with a giveaway presented by FunkAway. 

June 18 vs. Chicago Red Stars – Dads & Daughters Night  

Calling all dads and daughters! The team will celebrate the fathers in their lives ahead of Father’s Day. Get started early with a special night out to a Kansas City Current game!

July 17 vs. OL Reign – Hometown Heroes Night, presented by First Federal Bank of Kansas City  

Join the KC Current in celebrating the heroes that make Kansas City Special. Hometown Heroes Night, presented by First Federal Bank of Kansas City, will honor military personnel, first responders, nonprofit leaders and other individuals whose efforts support and advance the vibrant local community.  

July 31 vs. Orlando Pride – KC Kicks Cancer, presented by Saint Luke’s Health System  

Join the KC Current and Saint Luke’s Health System, in joining together to kick cancer. This match will raise awareness for the cause and offer fans the opportunity to support the fight against cancer.  

Aug. 19 vs. Angel City FC – Back to School Night  

Catch expansion team Angel City FC for its first match in Kansas City! Close out the summer at Children’s Mercy Park before heading back to school.  

Aug. 28 vs. NC Courage – Inspiring Women Night  

Celebrating inspirational women is a key part of the Current’s mission. To commemorate Women’s Equality Day on Aug. 26, the team will honor players and the women who inspire them.  

Sept. 18 vs. Portland Thorns – Heart Health Awareness Day, presented by Saint Luke’s Health System  

The Kansas City Current will help raise awareness for heart health in partnership with Saint Luke’s Health System, ahead of World Heart Day. The global awareness campaign is celebrated on Sept. 29.  

Sept. 25 vs. Washington Spirit – Fan Appreciation Day  

In the final home match of the regular season, the Current will thank the supporters who make Kansas City the Soccer Capital of America! Kansas City closes out the season against the defending NWSL champions, so this will be a game that no one should miss. Special merchandise and other celebratory opportunities await the best fans in the NWSL!
