Forward Kyra Carusa to Join Irish National Team for International Break

KANSAS CITY (May 22, 2026) — Kansas City Current forward Kyra Carusa, who is on loan from HB Køge Women in Denmark, has been called up by the Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team for the upcoming June international break. Ireland will play two crucial group stage fixtures to conclude its 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup European qualifying campaign.

The Irish will first take on the Netherlands on Friday, June 5, at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, Ireland, with kickoff at 1:30 p.m. CT. The team will then travel to Grenoble, France, to face the French National Team on Tuesday, June 9, at Stade des Alpes at 2 p.m. CT.

Ireland enters this final World Cup European qualifying window having secured two wins over Poland during the April international break. Should the Irish secure a top spot in their group across the two June matches, they will bypass the playoff system and secure an automatic berth to next summer’s World Cup.

Carusa, who has earned over 40 caps while scoring 12 goals, has represented Ireland on the international stage since her debut in February 2020 at the UEFA Women’s Euro Qualifiers. She was chosen to represent Ireland at the 2023 World Cup and played in all three group stage matches. In June 2025, Carusa was named the Football Association of Ireland Senior Women’s International Player of the Year.

The Current and HB Køge Women announced in early March that Carusa had been placed on loan to Kansas City. Carusa initially joined the Current ahead of the 2026 preseason, presented by CPKC, as a non-rostered training player. She has made four regular season appearances for Kansas City.
