DiBernardo, Hopkins Named to NWSL October/November Best XI of the Month, Presented by Amazon Prime

KANSAS CITY (Nov. 6, 2026) — Kansas City Current midfielder Vanessa DiBernardo and forward Haley Hopkins have been named to the October/November NWSL Best XI of the Month, presented by Amazon Prime, the league announced on Friday. The duo combined for five goals and four assists as the Current extended its winning streak to five matches to close out the regular season.

This is the fifth monthly honor of DiBernardo’s career and her second as a member of the Current. In 2024, DiBernardo was named to the March/April NWSL Best XI of the Month. Hopkins, who was named the NWSL’s October/November Player of the Month on Thursday, earned the distinction for the first time in her professional career.

All three of DiBernardo’s assists came via set piece. On Oct. 17 at Utah, DiBernardo curled a corner kick to the back post that Hopkins skied above the defense to meet before sending a thumping header into the top right corner of the goal. The assist stood as the match-winner in the Current’s 2-0 victory.

On Oct. 25, DiBernardo capped a frenetic first-half comeback in the Current’s 2-1 home victory over the Washington Spirit with her first goal of the season. It also marked her first goal since becoming a mom in January and being activated from the maternity list in July.

DiBernardo closed the regular season with a pair of corner kick assists in the Current’s 2-0 road victory over Louisville on Nov. 2, which brought her career regular season assist tally to 35. That total is one behind Seattle’s Sofia Huerta for the most assists in NWSL history.

Hopkins, meanwhile, steered home the equalizing goal in the Current’s home match against Bay FC on Oct. 3, then set up what ultimately stood as the match-winner from forward/midfielder Debinha in a 5-1 Kansas City victory. Two Saturday later — after firing the Current ahead in a crucial road contest against Utah — Hopkins sealed a 2-0 Current victory with a composed finish on a Kansas City counterattack in second half stoppage time.

To close the regular season, Hopkins found the back of the net with a well-placed header that sent the Current to a 2-0 victory over Louisville. The goal marked her 12th goal of the season and Kansas City’s 54th goal of the regular season — tied for the most in the NWSL in 2026 as well as the second-highest single season total in league history.

The NWSL Best XI of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis, and the league’s on-air talent.

The No. 4 seed KC Current hosts fifth-seeded Angel City FC in the quarterfinal round of the 2026 NWSL Playoffs, presented by Google Pixel, at CPKC Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. CT. Saturday’s contest will broadcast nationally on CBS and Paramount+. Tickets to Saturday’s postseason match can be purchased HERE.
