Costa Rica Calls Up Kansas City Current Midfielder Rocky Rodríguez for International Break

Kansas City Current midfielder Rocky Rodríguez has been called up by the Costa Rican National Team for a training camp during the upcoming October FIFA international window.

Costa Rica’s training camp is part of the continued preparation for the 2026 Concacaf W Championship. Set to take place Nov. 27-Dec. 5, the Concacaf W Championship serves as the qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup next summer in Brazil. Costa Rica secured its spot in the championship by finishing atop Group C in the 2025-26 Concacaf W Qualifiers.

Rodríguez last played with her home country during the June international window where she started both matches against El Salvador and Canada. She also played in a pair of friendlies back in April, scoring a hat trick against the Cayman Islands.

A star for Costa Rica, Rodríguez has 61 goals in over 115 caps since her debut in 2012. She played every match at the World Cup in 2015 and 2023, highlighted by scoring Costa Rica’s first ever World Cup goal in 2015. Rodríguez scored three goals at the 2014 Concacaf World Championships to help Costa Rica earn its first Women’s World Cup bid – the first by a Central American team – and had seven goals at the 2013 Central America Games to lead her team to gold.

Rodríguez has twice been nominated for Concacaf Female Player of the Year, in 2014 and 2015.
