KANSAS CITY (May 20, 2026) — A mainstay on the Brazilian National Team, Kansas City Current goalkeeper Lorena has been called up by her home country for the upcoming June international window. Brazil, the host of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, will welcome the United States Women’s National Team for a pair of high-profile friendlies. Brazil currently sits sixth in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings while the USA is second.
Brazil and the U.S. will first square off on Saturday, June 6, at 4:30 p.m. CT at Neo Química Arena in São Paulo before meeting again on Tuesday, June 9, at Arena Castelão in Fortaleza with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. CT. Both venues will host matches during next year’s World Cup. The first friendly will broadcast on TBS, Max, Telemundo, Universo and Peacock while the second will air on TNT, Max and Peacock, and both will be available on the radio on Westwood One.
This marks Lorena’s third call-up of the calendar year as she also received an invitation for the February/March and April windows. She was called up by her national team for all six camps held in 2025.
Last summer, Lorena guided Brazil to its fifth consecutive – and ninth overall – Copa América title. Her game-winning save in the penalty kick shootout against Colombia clinched the championship. She also had a penalty kick save in a friendly with Japan in May 2025. After making her senior team debut in 2021, Lorena missed the 2023 FIFA World Cup due to injury but returned to play every minute for Brazil during the 2024 Olympic Games. She kept a clean sheet in three of six matches in the tournament en route to the silver medal.
