A Letter to Teal Town from KC Current Ownership

The support we received locally, regionally, nationally and internationally helped make 2025 a season that Current fans across the world will never forget. On behalf of the entire Kansas City Current organization, THANK YOU.

Like all of you, we wish we were continuing our postseason journey this weekend with another electric match at CPKC Stadium. While it is unfortunate that our historic, precedent-setting and unforgettable 2025 season came to an end before our ultimate goal, we are INCREDIBLY PROUD to celebrate one of the most successful seasons in Kansas City Current history — both on and off the pitch.

It is not lost on us that we have been able to celebrate so many remarkable accomplishments with you all, the BEST FANS IN THE WORLD, in just five short years. Winning the 2025 NWSL Shield represents the on-field pinnacle of this franchise’s ever-growing history, and it meant so much for us to be able to commemorate that monumental moment with our incredible fans.

This season, the Current set several club and NWSL records during an outstanding regular season campaign. We set new NWSL records for wins (21), points (65) and shutouts (16) while earning a league-record 11 home victories at CPKC Stadium. The team conceded just 13 goals across 26 regular season matches, the best defensive mark by any team in NWSL history, and kept a clean sheet for a league-record nine consecutive regular season matches. Kansas City also maintained a shutout streak of 869 consecutive shutout minutes, earned nine road victories and won the inaugural Teal Rising Cup. All these milestones helped the 2025 Kansas City Current become the FASTEST TEAM IN LEAGUE HISTORY TO WIN THE NWSL SHIELD — doing so with five regular season matches remaining. 

After becoming the first team in NWSL history to sell out every regular season match in 2024, you helped us REPEAT THE FEAT in 2025.

Getting to celebrate Teal Time in Kansas City with you ahead of the club’s third playoff appearance was nothing short of inspiring, and it energized us to see Current fans around the world celebrate this special season.  Even though our season came to an end after 120 hard-fought minutes on Sunday, we can hold our heads up high knowing one result does not define who we are, nor does it take away from the incredible things we accomplished in 2025. 

It is an exciting time to be a Kansas City Current fan. Our team, technical staff and front office are hard at work to ensure 2026 will be even more memorable. The remarkable foundation established in Kansas City cannot be unseen, and the heights achieved this season offer unmistakable proof that the Current is setting the standard for women’s professional sports. Rest assured, the Kansas City Current IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE and will be back even stronger as we continue to chase championships and become the best women’s football club in the world. 

None of what we do would be possible without our fans. Both home and away, and through the cold, rain and heat, your unwavering support serves as motivation and makes what we do worth it. Thank you for all your support in 2025, and we can’t wait for more celebrations, milestones, and unforgettable moments next season.
