Kansas City Current Introduces Teal Rising Alliance

KANSAS CITY (Oct. 24, 2025) – On Friday, the Kansas City Current formally announced the new Teal Rising Alliance, a collection of local youth clubs designed to strengthen the entire soccer landscape across the region. The Teal Rising Alliance brings together a community of clubs to build a pipeline to the KC Current environment and creates a generational shift in the country’s soccer landscape for players and coaches. This serves as another symbol of the Current’s long-term commitment to player development, performance excellence and becoming the preeminent women’s football club in the world.

“Being the best women’s football club requires not just setting the bar – but raising the bar – at every level, and that starts by investing in the next generation,” said Kansas City Current co-owners and co-founders Angie and Chris Long. “The Teal Rising Alliance allows the KC Current ecosystem to invest directly in rising stars within the Kansas City region and beyond. As we keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in women’s sports, this is another exciting step to continue fostering a grassroots to professional pathway.”

The Teal Rising Alliance creates a clear player pathway from academies around the region to professional opportunities with the Kansas City Current organization, which includes the Current, Kansas City Current II and HB Køge. As part of the Alliance, elite youth players will be sent to Talent ID sessions before progressing through the pipeline to academy sessions, KC Current II and beyond.

Member clubs align with the Current’s development standards to build the future of women’s soccer through professional connections, recruiting exposure and training opportunities. Additionally, the Alliance bolsters player development with consistent evaluation and fortifies Kansas City’s place as a leader in the sport.​ This will continue to bridge young talent to top-tier soccer, reinforcing the Current’s vision of a complete development pathway from grassroots to professional.

Together, we will not only elevate our region and the Current ecosystem, but soccer across America, while building a clear and collaborative pathway to professional soccer.”

Upon joining the Teal Rising Alliance as a member, clubs will receive several benefits including Talent ID events, club recognition during Current home matches, discounts on Current Club memberships, discounted tickets for KC Current home matches and an Alliance patch on the club’s uniforms.

Additionally, various local, regional and elite tournaments and invitationals will be held in Kansas City each year. These annual events will include two local tournaments, two regional tournaments and two elite showcases. This programming will further bolster the pipeline by identifying top youth talent, providing recruiting exposure and establishing professional connections.

In addition to Talent ID and programming, coaching education is also a key pillar of the Teal Rising Alliance. Club coaches within the Alliance will have monthly coaching education sessions virtually and in-person along with access to a virtual platform with methodologies, style of play and other resources. Alliance coaches can also join a coaching fellowship program with mentorship development opportunities, guided by a philosophy that empowered coaches improve player environments which in turn strengthens soccer nationally.

Currently, Teal Rising Alliance members include local clubs Alliance FC, Kansas City Athletics, Kansas City Surf, Kansas City Legends and Unified FC. The KC Current is in continued conversations with clubs from across the Kansas City region to continuing growing the Alliance.
