Kansas City Current forward Kristen Hamilton named to NWSL July Best XI of the month, presented by Mastercard

The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) today named the players July Best XI list, presented by Mastercard. Kansas City Current forward Kristen Hamilton was voted as one of three forwards on the roster by the NWSL Media Association and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent.

After scoring the first hat trick in club and Challenge Cup history at the Kansas City Current’s last home match, Hamilton jumped the ranks to become the second-leading scorer all-time in the Challenge Cup. The Kansas City Current captain leads the team in goals this month (3), guiding them to two wins and a draw out of their four matches in July. Hamilton joined the team in 2021 and set a club record last season for the most goals scored across all competitions with five Challenge Cup goals, seven regular season goals and one playoff goal.

Following her accomplishments this month, Hamilton and the Current will take on Racing Louisville at home to finish off the group stage of the UKG Challenge Cup tournament. With high stakes and a possibility of moving on to the knockout round in a first-place position, the action begins August 5 at 7 p.m. CT.

Mastercard and the NWSL launched the Best XI of the Month awards platform with the First Team and Second Team honors for the 22 top players of the league after the 2021 season.
