Adopt Margarita! Mascot of the Match Presented by FunkAway

This season, KC Current is teaming up with local animal shelters in support of pet adoptions. In partnership with FunkAway, the club has launched the Mascot of the Match campaign, spotlighting one local animal ready for adoption for each home and away match of the regular season.

The Mascot of the Match for Portland Thorns vs. KC Current this Saturday is Margarita, of Great Plains SPCA.

Adopt Margarita

Margarita is a six year old, terrier mix,  who has been in the shelter for 524 days. She has been in a foster home for quite a while now and has become the ultimate homebody. She is completely house-trained and will even let you know when she needs to go outside. Plus, she knows what toys are hers and prefers to stick strictly to her chew toys. Her favorite things to do are snooze the day away or take a leisurely walk where she can sniff all the scents the world has to offer. She may join a home with kids 16 and up and will need to meet everyone in the home prior to being adopted. She prefers joining a home without cats and is dog selective. If you love to nap and relax as much as Margarita, reach out to foster@greatplainsspca.org for more information! Her adoption family will receive gift bags from KC Current and FunkAway as part of the sponsorship.

She is currently housed at Great Plains SPCA.  As an independent 501(c)(3) no kill shelter, with a 98% live release rate, GPSPCA provides lifesaving services for approximately 4,000 animals annually in the greater Kansas City area. Great Plains SPCA exists because of our caring Kansas City community and generous donors. They offer a lifelong, full-circle approach for pets and their human companions with their three-pronged approach: prevention, adoption, retention. Their mission is “to drive change in our community through innovative programs that promote adoption, outreach and a better life for pets and the people who love them.”
