Adopt Gilligan, our Mascot of the Match! Kansas City Current

Adopt Gilligan, our Mascot of the Match!

This season, KC Current is teaming up with local animal shelters in support of pet adoptions. For the third year, the club presents the Mascot of the Match campaign, spotlighting local animals ready for adoption.

Our Mascot of the Match for KC Current vs. Racing Louisville FC on Saturday, May 18 is Gilligan from Wayside Waifs!

Adopt Gilligan

Gilligan is a Pit Bull Terrier mix and just two-years-old. He was removed from a bad situation and brought to the shelter. All of this new world is a little overwhelming for him. He is a super sweet pup, ready for his forever family. He is a little unsure when meeting new people. Just give him a minute to check everything out and he will feel better about meeting you. He does still tend to jump on folks, thus his restriction on children.

When he first got to the shelter, he was an under-socialized and fearful dog. He enjoys play at times, but primarily just coexisting with another dog. When he is feeling playful, he is a medium energy player who enjoys chase style play, and occasionally wrestling and body bumping. His signature move includes throwing himself to the ground and rolling, it looks painful but he enjoy it! He would prefer a dog who plays and will share the same toyswith him. He can be selective with his dog friends. He appears to prefer females or dogs who are smaller than him. Once he decides he likes a dog, he is their friend for life!

One of his favorite things to do once he gets to know you, is cuddling! He would love to hang out on a couch watching your favorite shows. He really wants nothing more than to hang out by your side and play. He loves people, loves to go for walks and is easy to leash.

As Kansas City’s largest and most comprehensive no kill pet adoption campus, Wayside Waifs is committed to finding homes for all adoptable pets. We serve more than 27,000 pets and people every year through pet adoptions, youth education, canine training programs, and community outreach. We do not euthanize adoptable animals, and there are no time limits for animals in our care. Only animals suffering from significant medical issues or those that pose a danger are humanely euthanized. We are proud to be a part of Kansas City’s no kill community. Wayside is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity with regional and national reach.
