This season, KC Current is teaming up with local animal shelters in support of pet adoptions. In partnership with FunkAway, the club has launched the Mascot of the Match campaign, spotlighting one local animal ready for adoption for each home and away match of the regular season.
The Mascot of the Match for NJ/NY Gotham FC vs. KC Current this Saturday is Duke, of Humane Society of Greater Kansas City.
Duke is an adorable Beagle and Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix in search of his forever home. He would make the perfect match for a family since he’s so great with kids and other dogs. He’s very friendly, funny, and athletic. As much as he loves playing and running around, he also loves being a couch potato. This sweet pup is ready to meet his new family and share lots of kisses. Duke’s adoption family will receive gift bags from KC Current and FunkAway as part of the sponsorship.
Duke is currently housed at Humane Society of Greater Kansas City. They became the KC metro area’s first no-kill shelter in 1994 and their Affordable Care Clinic is the only veterinary clinic operated by an animal welfare organization in Kansas City that is open to the public. Their mission is "to save and improve the lives of dogs and cats throughout the Greater Kansas City community by providing preventive veterinary care and spay/neuter services, education and adoptions.”
